You need to take a closer look at your line strokes, whether the top left corner of the line and the bottom right corner are closed.

How can I get a list of all json files under a directory in linux?
I have a directory with several JSON files. I want to get a list of them so that I can run jq on it.
I want to get the files in that directory and not the contents of the files.
I tried:
ls | xargs jq
But I get the following error:
ls: error -1: no such file or directory

The error you are getting is because the shell expands ls to the literal string ls and pipes it to xargs. That is, the command you are running is ls | xargs jq (note the missing |). This is not what you want. The shell already expands the command lines given to it by xargs, so you don't need to do that yourself.
You can simply run jq against a directory:
jq -c 'dir' *
Or, if you just want a list of the files, and don't care about processing the contents of the files:
jq - 01e38acffe
